So it seems to me as I relax here on a lazy Sunday morning that 2007 is already a busy year, and it's just getting started. It's a good busy. I'm very much looking forward to tonight and I'll get to the why of that statement shortly.
Right now I'm watching the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge. I don't think Apollo likes it. He's retreated to his new favorite lounge spot, the cool floor of my shower. I guess it's too many canines on the screen for the wee beast's tastes. For those wondering how the little guy is going -- he's getting bigger. I'll keep the "cat-dad" talk to a minimum here on this blog, but every so often, don't be surprised if I share the exploits of Apollo.
And so, Happy New Year, by the by. The busy of the year is all too accentuated by the fact that it's the seventh of January here in the States and I'm just now getting around to posting for the first time since we rolled over the calendars.
Feels like I should say a few a few words about 2006 --- but then it's been a whole week since I had to use that date, so I'm not thinking much about it. The nostalgia that accompanies champagne at midnight when December falls isn't nearly as strong as it feels at the time. And as frost creeps up my bedroom window, obscurring my view of the monochromatic world that lies outside, my thoughts are gearing towards the upcoming year.
And the fact that it's the seventh year and we're closing in on another decade is equally frightening. I know -- 2010 is three years away, but three years ago my life was so incredibly different than is today that I wonder what it'll be like then. But yes, it's still 2007 -- only seven days in. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Just trying to formulate this post as I write.
But then again, my brain seems distracted for various reasons. Maybe it's the potato chips. Noticed that Lays Potato chips have switched to Sun Flower Oil. And last night -- well, earlier this morning as I was up until 2:00 a.m. -- I had a handful of these new chips and then as I slept, I had the most intense dreams. This time it was an amalgam of theater, friends, and fighting video game monsters. Which makes sense considering how those three things have figured prominently as of late. Well, as of yesterday. Theater and friends -- always on the forefront. Yesterday brought some gaming with said friends and toss in a little Sunflower oil and... the dreamworld is often polluted with the realities of our day to day and last night was the epitome of that very phenomenon.
But what really is keeping me from posting anything of any focus or consistency is that tonight are the auditions for "Darkside" at my local theater. Usually when auditions are coming up, I get anxious because I'm auditioning. Tonight though, I'm on the other side of the table and begin a two-night process to select a cast to direct in this great show.
And that's --- making it tough to think about posting. But I wanted to check in and wish everyone a great 2007. If I have one resolution, it's to post more here on the blog. I'm not huge into resolutions. I say I have them, but most of them are simple and small things that I've been saying since October. Post more. Clean my room more. Schedule less. Make more time for the people -- not the things -- I love. That's a good one, actually. It's something a little more... broad. Universal. Hoping to be more productive this year too. Writing-wise. Can't be a writer unless you write, so we'll see if I can claim that moniker when we see December off at the end of this year.
Wow, end of this year. Getting ahead of myself. Need to focus on tonight.
Until next time.

Happy New Year, Sony!
ReplyDeleteI just love the way your thoughts leap and bounce forwards and backwards...they make me think, too. I wonder what colors will fill my world in 2010? Hmmm...
