I haven't seen the Little Dipper in years. By its proper name, many know the constellation as Ursa Minor (the little bear). It's an arrangement of stars that my gaze had stopped searching for many nights ago.
And then on Friday night, there it was. Glorious and bright. Small and hidden amongst it siblings. Orion. Ursa Major. Taurus. All of them there, but fighting for my attention with dozens of other constellations and millions of other stars. As I stepped from the car well past nine in the evening, I happened to glance skyward.
It was breathtaking.
If it hadn't been so frackin' cold, I could have stayed out there for hours with a view like that.
Lucidity and I spent a much needed weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We drove ourselves well into the countryside, deep into the forest lined hills where the stars we'd once forgotten could be seen once again. Where the silence is altogether awesome. And where the only thing scheduled is relaxation.
No email. No blog. No cell phones. Just us, a cabin, and the stars.
I told you. Breathtaking.
