Distractions

Coffee and me have one of those off-again/on-again relationships. Mostly off. I like my sugar with coffee and cream. Sometimes. More of a tea man myself (leaf water over bean water for this boy anyday of the week), but occasionally I will give in and try another cup. Always leaded. And usually loaded down with cream, sugar, and more often than naught—more caramel and chocolate than a Milky Way (which, randomly, appears to be the secret to a life of happiness if you pay attention to the photos on their website—seriously, those people must really like Milky Ways).

So plain coffee.... let me just say, if it wasn't for the rain out there right now, I'd be pretty tempted to head for a Starbucks and take advantage of their national coffee break promotion that happens this morning (even though it's just coffee—not of the Beastie Boys variety).

Why? Because it's free. Deja vu alert! Yes, I already posted about the gluttony of America when it comes to free stuff (in fact, it was this coffee break thing last year that launched that diatribe), so we're not gonna linger on that. Just sayin' that there's a bunch of free coffee bein' tossed down gullets right now and I'm jonesin' for some caffeine.

Also jonesin' for some writing time. I've actually managed to get some dialogue down on paper lately, just not as much as I need. But that'll happen when your lunch breaks kind of vaporize daily ("Not today, Trevelyan!"). So I think this will be one of the shorter posts, as I'm gonna ahead downstairs, grab a Coke, and prep for some major creativity this afternoon (and this evening). Half a play to finish by Saturday, folks. A deadline has a wonderful way of concentrating the mind.
